In the Community
Helping Others
Giving back to our larger community at Sullivan Heights Dental is an essential part of our existence.
The Surrey community has warmly welcomed our dental office since the day we opened our doors. We have chosen to give back directly to our community with specific ongoing efforts, as well as by participating in events and educational outreach.
In the gallery above, you’ll see some of the initiatives that we’ve participated in recently, from collecting non-perishable food donations and spending a day at the Surrey Food Bank, to educating all ages of school kids about dental hygiene. Below on this page you can learn more about our ongoing community programs, which are also often featured on our blog.
We find that helping to make a difference in people’s lives not only enriches our lives, but also grounds us.
Gold Sponsor of the Sullivan Heights Stars Football Team
We’re very excited to have been involved in the launch of Sullivan Heights Secondary’s football team playing Triple-A football with other BC Secondary Schools in 2018. We’ll continue to sponsor this youth sports program, and support the vision of Coach Gord Randall (pictured below with Dr. Bajwa, who is a big fan of football) to make a positive impact in teen boys’ lives by providing structure, focus, and physical activity.
At Sullivan Heights Dental, our vision is to provide the highest standard of dental care possible while being an integral member of our community with lifelong involvement and outreach.
Ongoing Community Work
Educational Outreach in Schools
Teaching kids about good oral hygiene is one of the most important contributions we can make to our local community. If kids understand how and why to take better care of their teeth, it will lead to fewer unpleasant visits to the dentist for restorative work in the future. From preschools to high schools, we love talking with kids about oral hygiene.
Sullivan Heights Secondary
Located across the street from our clinic, Sullivan Heights Secondary is where many of our patients spend their day. We’re involved in two efforts: an annual scholarship presented to graduating student who is pursuing post-secondary studies, and sponsorship of the Stars football team, who required community support to launch their sports program.
Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps
Inspired by the story of our patients who benefited greatly from joining the cadets, we’re a community sponsor of the 3300 BCR (Bhai Kanhaiya) Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in Surrey. The cadets depend on supplemental funding for their programming, events and equipment that aren’t covered by the Department of National Defence.
