Dr Himmat Bajwa awards scholarship

Sullivan Heights Secondary School Scholarship Created

September 5, 2018

Dr. Himmat Bajwa is thrilled to announce that Sullivan Heights Dental has created an annual scholarship for a graduating student at Sullivan Heights Secondary School.

Working with the Sullivan Heights Scholarship Committee, a set of criteria was created for the award in order to guide students in their applications. Criteria include strong grades in sciences and the intent to pursue post-secondary studies.

The very first recipient of the Sullivan Heights Secondary scholarship was Nischay Sahota, who graduated in June 2018. Dr. Bajwa attended the graduation ceremony and presented Nischay with her scholarship in person.

Nischay tells us that her favourite subjects in school were chemistry, biology and math. She balanced her schoolwork with sports (basketball and volleyball teams) and volunteer work.

Nischay visited our dental office at the end of August and chatted with our dental team. Preparing to attend SFU in September, she has plans to major in Biomedical/Physiology with the goal of a career in either optometry or dentistry.

Dr. Bajwa says of the Sullivan Heights Secondary scholarship, “It’s important to me personally, and to our dental office, to be giving back to our community which has warmly welcomed us ever since we opened our doors. Sullivan Heights Secondary is across the street from our office and we have several patients who are students there, so we’re very happy to be contributing to their scholarship fund.”
