Porcelain Veneers
Take Your Smile from So-So to Sensational
Porcelain veneers are quickly becoming the most common cosmetic procedure used to enhance smiles for three good reasons: they’re simple, versatile and can completely transform your smile.
What Are Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are made of very thin shells of porcelain, which are shaped and then bonded to cover the front of your teeth. Veneers are used to correct issues such as:
- Discolouration (especially stained teeth)
- Irregular shaped teeth
- Uneven spacing
- Chipped, broken or worn teeth
Benefits of Veneers
We love veneers for their overall visual impact. However, other important benefits to consider are their durability (they won’t stain or chip), life expectancy and their incredible resemblance to healthy white tooth enamel.
Veneers: What to Expect
Receiving porcelain veneers at our Surrey dental clinic usually requires only two visits. The number of pre-treatment visits will vary depending on the extent of the changes you desire. Dr. Bajwa will discuss these details with you during your initial consultation.
An impression will then be made of your teeth and then sent to the dental laboratory which will custom-make porcelain veneers in the right colour and shape for your teeth. During the fitting, the tooth is buffed and veneers are carefully bonded onto the surface. A special light may be used to help set the bond.

Is the application of veneers uncomfortable?
For most people, preparing the tooth and bonding the veneer is not uncomfortable. Little or no anaesthesia is required for this treatment.
What about the other types of veneers? Why are porcelain veneers the best option?
Composite veneers are less expensive and faster to apply, but the finish isn’t as good as porcelain. They require polishing and aren’t as resistant to staining. Similarly, instant veneers cost less and can usually be completed in one visit. However, they are pre-made (not sculpted to your teeth) and won’t offer the same long-lasting durability as porcelain.
Porcelain veneers are more expensive because they have the biggest transformative effect: they are completely customized and look remarkably like your natural teeth.
