Meet Our 2025 Scholarship Recipient: Kuljot Sara
August 22, 2025The Sullivan Heights Dental scholarship is awarded to a local Surrey graduating student who has strong grades in sciences and will be pursuing a post-secondary education. Each recipient receives $500 and is chosen by their school.
Introducing Kuljot Sara, one of this year’s recipients of Sullivan Heights Dental Scholarship! We have two scholarships, one for each of our local high schools. Kuljot graduated from Panorama Ridge Secondary in June. We asked her a few questions about the high school experience and what her plans are for post-secondary education. This interview has been edited for brevity.
What was your overall high school experience like?
It was great. I did dance, and leadership for the junior part of it. I was on the Break team for all of high school.
What was your favourite subject in high school?
I’ve always gravitated towards sciences, I would say I love biology.
Who was your most influential teacher?
I was in a co-op program – outdoor leadership program in grade 11 – and the teacher was Kevin Crosby. He guided me a lot. We went on camping trips so we’d do english on top of mountains . . .we got to do volunteering at Science World, there were a lot of great opportunities.
What activities did you pursue at school?
Dance, and I was volleyball manager, so all the athletic stuff—I would just help out because I had friends in senior leadership, I would do scoreboards and other things.
What will you miss the most at school ?
The community. By grade 12 I had a good community because I coached grade eights too. I definitely miss that.
What are your plans for continuing education (where and when)?
I’m off to U of Vic, studying Bachelors of Science. I’m undeclared but I’m thinking biology and chemistry.
Do you have a career goal in mind?
I’m keeping my options are open, I did want to do pre-med but it really depends on what the grades are. Anything in healthcare is what I’ve pictured myself doing, any masters program.
What are you doing this summer?
I’m going on road trips, mostly focussing on being with friends, and keeping my time free. I have cousins in Williams Lake and we’ll go to Kelowna.
