Dr. Himmat Bajwa Talks with Kids About Oral Health
June 30, 2018One of our patients, who is a teacher at W E Kinvig Elementary School in Surrey, made arrangements for Dr. Bajwa to visit her school. The request? Talk, show and review with the kids how to properly care for their teeth.
Dr. Bajwa and his team met with a total of six classes from Kindergarten to Grade 3. Talking about what happens at a visit to the dentist, they explained what his job is and what his basic tools (an “explorer” and mirror) are for. A fun demonstration of brushing and flossing teeth followed, with a little talk about those sneaky ‘sugar bugs’ that love to make cavities in teeth!
While the topic of oral hygiene may not seem very exciting to most adults, the kids loved it. We had a very interested audience with lots of questions, stories and ideas to share.
Dr. Bajwa says, “The personal highlight for me was seeing the enthusiasm and engagement of all the classrooms we visited while spreading awareness of proper oral health and hygiene. We all really enjoyed the experience and the kids had so many great questions which made it fun!”
